The Story

Season 24 at Wrigley Field

Our rendezvous with destiny thanks to Rich Bellis working the smooth with the Chicago Cubs. One hundred years after it opened, No Bats was the final team to play ball in historic Wrigley Field prior to renovation, the last out coming on a five-hopper to second by Virginia Beach investment researcher Chip Ford.

Mark Costigan proposed on the mound to a woman whose answer was, "No f-ing way!" which puzzled half of us who thought that meant yes while the rest thought she meant no. Costigan also uttered a phrase that instantly went down in club lore. When asked by a curious fan who stopped in to watch during a stadium tour what was going on, he said, "It looks like baseball from a helicopter."
