Our return to Dodgertown for the club's 20th anniversary was melancholy. Sasha Muratov flew over from Moscow and got real sick. The formerly perfect venue was tired and run down, Holman Stadium rusting and showing its age, just like the rest of us.

Despite our best effort, Chrissy the barmaid was nowhere to be found. Frenchie was named best pitcher of the first 20 years, Rick Shaw the best player. Bill Brockway posts, returning to the fold one final time at age 83. We fuss over Brockway and share stories of his great achievements through the years, but Bill remembers none of it. Aging is not for the meek, no matter how terrific a player a man has been.
