Season 19 in San Antonio
Certainly the grimmest field trip we've ever taken, our support of Disabled Sports USA and wounded veterans returning from the Middle East took us to Brooke Army Medical Center, a 425-bed facility.
Seeing how badly these guys were maimed, burnt, and disfigured was gut wrenching. Two wounded vets, tough hombres Danny Acosta and Orlando Gill, joined us on the diamond, playing full speed without an arm and a leg. One of Darb's friends donated a piece of land worth a boatload to the place so it could build temporary housing for returning victims. Jay Tucker tried to get George W. Bush to post, but Dubya couldn't make it.
