Season 18 • San Diego, CA • Oct. 13 - 16, 2008
Key moments from our 2008 San Diego adventure
Meeting the legendary Tony Gwynn and supporting his TAG Foundation supporting after school and self-esteeem programs for San Diego youth.
Bruce Bochy's visit and Bruce "Beef" Hall's Pony League home run story. Bochy pitched the ball Beef homered off of.
1989 AL Rookie of the Year and Oriole Hall-of-Famer joined and pitched throughout the weekend.
High foul pop that landed and stayed in his mask. Bochy, a career catcher and baseball lifer, had never seen anything like it.
Season 18 at San Diego State University
Aspiring to help Tony and Alicia Gwynn's T.A.G. Foundation, Tony was really weak and said a brief hello to the Chairman and apologized for being unable to do more. Bruce Bochy showed up, enabling No Bats motormouth Bruce "Beef" Hall to brag about bombing a HR off Bochy in Pony League or whatever.
Game highlights included Pickles doing a Bolshoi catcher's pirouette looking for an overhead foul ball, which dropped and stayed in his mask. A legendary grab, rarely seen in baseball circles.
Rookie T-shirt mogul Jim Wadley screws up the spelling on our uniforms, instantly nicknaming himself "Angles."
Also assisting us that season was 1989 AL Rookie of the Year and Oriole Hall-of-Famer Gregg Olson. Olson sensed trouble during the rookie photo pose and ducked to avoid a massive dump of ice water from the rooftop above.
